Les Houches Chalet
Les Houches Chalet is located in the Chamonix valley in a raised position at the foot of Mont Blanc. The stunning views of the Mont Blanc massif are captured by large glazed openings which dramatically frame the views of the peaks from the bedrooms and living spaces.
The double height space of the main living area is softened by the exposed timber frame and a contemporary log burner to give a sense of warmth and protection from the cold climate in the winter. In the summer time, the large glazed doors slide open to connect the internal spaces with an expansive terrace overlooking the valley.
The construction of the chalet combines traditional timber frame techniques with more advanced structural and thermal technology to enable the chalet to open out to the views with expansive areas of glass.
This combination of techniques helps to retain the warm familiarity of the chalet form, whilst providing a strong connection to the beautiful scenery of the Alps.
