Chelsea Townhouse
The full remodelling and refurbishment of a 5 storey, 4-bedroom period townhouse in Chelsea, London, aims to deliver a highly functioning and inviting family home and to create a connection between the inside and out.
Reconfiguring the layout of the house allows for a new subterranean floor dedicated to the younger members of the family with a light-filled playroom connected to a landscaped garden. This level is reached via a bespoke cantilevered stone staircase, framing a green wall.
On the fifth floor, a new roof terrace provides further outside space with a backdrop of the original period chimney stacks and incredible views of the River Thames and Albert Bridge. Banquette seating nestled within soft planting creates an ideal space for entertaining day to night.
Whilst working within the constraints of the local conservation area, OB Architecture brought the home up to current living standards, applying the highest quality finishes and meticulous detailing throughout.
Bespoke joinery, state-of-the-art thermal and security technologies were part of the scheme, as well as enhanced acoustics to sound-proof the home, creating a quiet and private sanctuary within the busy city.
