Les Granges

The design of this chalet set within the Chamonix valley creates an abstraction of the traditional alpine barn where livestock would have been kept in the summer months whilst grazing on the pastures. Framed in a dark stained timber structure above a masonry base, carefully positioned glazed openings punctate the facade providing framed views across the mountains. The traditional arrangement of the timber structure creates a familiar, recognisable form, whilst the irregular composition of window openings gives a new abstract aesthetic to the chalet.
