Balancing building complexity with dynamic extra space in this one-off family home

Sloping sites create a number of potential building cost issues – the structural requirements of cutting away at the landscape and holding back the ground can quickly add up.

At Treetops, we carefully managed this hidden aspect of the build to allow us to maximise the interior spaces, with large double-height kitchen and dining areas, extensive external terraces which all work harmoniously together to capture the very best of the surrounding woodland.

Building out these external spaces as an extension of the inside entertaining areas meant we provided a much larger amount of usable space for our clients in a variety of different areas across their home.

This combined with a natural palette of internal materials, adding a sense of warmth and cosiness, has created an incredible family home in what could have been an expensive development site.

Shortlisted for the Daily Telegraph Homebuilding & Renovating Home of the Year 2023, Treetops is one of our recently completed one-off contemporary houses.
